Recently a local fuel company lost an estimate of US$200 000 at the hands of two of its employees over some transactions they entered with other fuel dealers. This is said to have happened between November last year and January this year.
Platinum Fuels, headed by Ace Lumumba and Gerald Matumanje lost 153 000 litres of diesel worth US$158 520 and US30 500 cash to its own employees. The two have been identified as Tatenda Maredzo (31) and Malcolm Dodo (26).
Maredza and Dodo appeared before the magistrate at the Harare Magistrates’ Court in line with the charges. They were charged with theft of trust property, corruptly concealing transactions from a principal and unlawful dealing in petroleum.
The two men were not asked to plead to the charges before the Magistrate Mrs Barbra Mateko. She sent them back into custody today so as to await their bail application.
