More than 100 unreleased songs by the late liberation hero, Soul Jah Love has gone missing, his family has mentioned.
In a press statement by Solomon Musaka, Soul Jah Love’s brother, the music is contained in a laptop and memory card which both went missing soon after his death.
“His home studio laptop and memory card with more than 100 unreleased songs among various other personal items are missing and we understand there is a Media House that has been offered these property rights.
We are engaging the Zimbabwe Republic Police in ensuring that investigations and process is undertaken to recover his intellectual property. We call upon anyone who comes across or is in possession of his unreleased music, videos, and pictures or existing contracts, or any of his movable and immovable properties.
We are dismayed that some producers have unilaterally released some of his music and some artists and organizations are hosting shows online, within and outside Zimbabwe on the pretext of celebrating his life yet using his name for their own selfish and personal benefit while others are holding themselves to be Conquering Family which was Soul Jah Love’s outfit,” read part of the statement.
The family says they will not hesitate to use the criminal charges and or civil remedies against any person or institution who infringes Soul Jah Love’s intellectual property rights.
